FAQ
WHAT DOES COLD PROCESS MEAN?
"Cold Process" refers to the fact that you don't need to use heat to produce the soap, although heat is produced during the process.
When we dilute the sodium hydroxide in water and combine it with oils or fats, a reaction called 'saponification' occurs. This process lasts around 24 hours when sodium hydroxide is being neutralised; and after curing the soap for several weeks, no trace of sodium hydroxide will remain in the soap. This is when a bar of mild and natural soap is created.
The traditional soap-making method retains the natural glycerin which is a by-product of the process and helps to moisturize while the soap cleanses.
DOES YOUR SOAP HAVE A SHELF LIFE?
Yes and No!
Although handmade natural soaps usually get better with age, we recommend using our soaps within 6 months of purchase. Our scented soaps should be used within a month after removing them from the packaging.
Although the quality of the soaps would not change, you may notice some changes as natural soap ages.
- some natural colors may fade over time
- the scents from pure natural essential oil scents will fade over time
WHY ISN'T THE COLOUR OF MY SOAP AS BRIGHT AS IT IS SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE?
Our natural soap colors come from natural ingredients like clays, botanicals, herbs, mica and matcha powder, etc. Unfortunately, natural colors will fade over time because most of them are light-sensitive.
ARE YOU A QUALIFIED SOAP MAKER AND SKINCARE PRODUCT FORMAULATOR?
I completed various courses to learn the essentials of soap making and skincare products formulation as well as laws and regulations. All of our cosmetic products recipes have been approved by a qualified chemist, CPSR certified and safe for sale.
ARE YOUR SOAPS AND SKINCARE PRODUCTS TESTED ON ANIMALS?
Definitely not. But I do have them tested on myself, my family and close friends before I am happy to sell them to the public.
